Ajax DoorProtect White – wireless magnetic contact for doors and windows

Ajax DoorProtect Jeweller is a wireless magnetic contact (reed contact) for monitoring doors, windows, gates and other opening access points. The detector reacts when a door or window opens and is one of the most important components of the perimeter protection in an Ajax alarm system.

DoorProtect is supplied with both a small and a large magnet and also has an input for a wired detector with a normally closed (NC) contact, allowing existing or specialised sensors to be integrated into the Ajax system.

Protects doors and windows

DoorProtect monitors whether a door or window has opened by detecting the distance between the sensor and the magnet.

When the magnetic contact opens, an alarm is sent immediately to the Ajax hub.

Two magnets included

DoorProtect is supplied with both a small and a large magnet to suit different installation environments.

Detection distances:

• Small magnet: up to 1 cm from the sensor
• Large magnet: up to 2 cm from the sensor

The large magnet has the same dimensions as the detector, 90 × 20 × 20 mm. The smaller magnet measures 55 × 11 × 6 mm and is easier to position discreetly on narrow frames.

External input for wired sensors

One of DoorProtect's key benefits is its built-in input for a wired detector with a normally closed (NC) contact.

This allows integration of devices such as:

• Existing magnetic contacts
• Roller-shutter and gate contacts
• Other wired sensors with an NC contact

Older or specialised sensors can therefore be added to the Ajax system without retaining a separate wired alarm system.

Chime function while the alarm is disarmed

DoorProtect can be used as a door chime in a shop or reception area. When the chime function is enabled, system sirens emit a short sound when the door opens while the alarm is disarmed.

This can be useful for:

• Alerting staff when a customer enters
• Monitoring the entrance during the day
• Noticing when children enter or leave

Long range and secure communication

Ajax Jeweller technology provides fast, encrypted communication between the detector and the hub.

This provides:

• Range up to 1,200 metres in open space
• Encrypted two-way communication using block encryption and a dynamic key
• Frequency hopping to protect against interference and jamming
• Device authentication to protect against spoofing
• Detection of lost communication after 36 seconds

Up to seven years of battery life

The energy-efficient design provides a long operating life.

This provides:

• Estimated battery life up to 7 years
• One pre-installed CR123A battery with a capacity of 1,600 mAh
• Minimal maintenance

The system automatically provides a notification when the battery needs replacing.

Installation tips

• Mount the detector on the frame and the magnet on the moving door or window section. When closed, the distance must remain within the specified detection range.
• Use the large magnet for wider gaps or uneven frames, and the small magnet on narrow profiles.
• Check the signal strength in the Ajax app before permanently installing the SmartBracket, particularly on metal doors or close to metal frames.

Important to know

• DoorProtect is intended for indoor use. Its enclosure rating is IP50 and the permitted humidity is up to 75%.
• The approved operating temperature is −10 °C to +40 °C.
• The wired input is intended for detectors with a normally closed contact. DoorProtect cannot power detectors that require an external supply.
