Examples of network solutions
Small home or apartment
For a smaller home, a modern all-in-one device with routing, security features and wireless networking may be sufficient.
Current examples include Ubiquiti UniFi Express 7 and TP-Link Omada ER706W.
House or small business
A larger home or small business often requires a gateway or router together with one or more access points.
Ubiquiti Dream Router 7 combines several functions in one device. Another option is Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra together with a separate access point, such as Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Pro.
When required, the solution can be expanded with a managed PoE switch, such as Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Lite 8 PoE.
Larger property, association or business
For larger networks, we normally use a separate gateway, PoE switch and multiple access points. This provides better options for central management, guest networks, VLAN segmentation and future expansion.
A UniFi solution can, for example, be built around Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Pro, a suitable PoE switch and the number of access points required by the property.
Budget alternative with TP-Link Omada
TP-Link Omada is a cost-effective alternative when a full UniFi solution is not required. An Omada installation can, for example, be built with TP-Link Omada ER707-M2, TP-Link Omada EAP670 and a managed switch such as TP-Link Omada SG2008.
Outdoor areas and multiple buildings
For gardens, outbuildings and other outdoor environments, we can use a weather-resistant access point such as TP-Link Omada EAP610-Outdoor, or a corresponding UniFi solution.
For links between buildings, we assess whether network cabling, fibre or a wireless link is the most suitable solution.
