Ajax MotionProtect Plus White – motion detector with infrared and microwave sensors

Ajax MotionProtect Plus Jeweller is a wireless indoor motion detector combining a passive infrared sensor (PIR) with a 24 GHz K-band microwave sensor. An alarm is sent only when both sensors detect movement, providing high operational reliability even in environments where fan heaters, air conditioning, draughts or direct sunlight might otherwise cause false alarms.

The detector provides pet immunity, three sensitivity levels and coverage up to 12 metres at the recommended mounting height of 2.4 metres. Communication uses Ajax's encrypted Jeweller radio with a range of up to 1,200 metres in open space.

Adjustable sensitivity

The detector provides three sensitivity levels configured in the Ajax app.

• High – ignores animals up to approximately 25 cm in height
• Normal – ignores animals up to approximately 35 cm in height
• Low – ignores animals up to 50 cm in height

The setting is selected according to the room size and the animals present.

Temperature value in the app

MotionProtect Plus measures the processor temperature and displays the value in the Ajax app. The permitted difference between the app value and the room temperature is 2 °C, and the value is updated when the temperature changes by at least 2 °C.

• Maintain at least 20 cm between two MotionProtect Plus detectors to prevent interference between the microwave sensors.
• Position the detector to cover the natural route of movement into the room.

Good to know

• The enclosure rating is IP50. The detector is intended for indoor installation in a dry environment.
• The approved operating temperature is −10 °C to +40 °C and permitted humidity is up to 75%.
• Operation outside the approved temperature range generates an error message in the system.

Its main strength is the dual verification between infrared and microwave detection. In a normal bedroom or hallway without sources of interference, the simpler MotionProtect is sufficient and more economical. The detector should be mounted at 2.4 metres for pet immunity to function as intended, two MotionProtect Plus units require at least 20 cm of separation, and the IP50 enclosure is intended for dry indoor use.
