TP-Link Omada SG2008 – 8-Port Smart Gigabit Switch with PoE In
TP-Link Omada SG2008 is a compact Layer 2+ switch with eight Gigabit ports, designed for businesses, professional installations and advanced home networks. Unlike traditional PoE switches, SG2008 supports PoE In (Powered Device), which means the switch itself can be powered through an incoming PoE connection. This makes it suitable for installations where no mains outlet is available, such as behind TV cabinets, in media cabinets or above suspended ceilings.
The switch integrates fully with TP-Link Omada SDN and provides advanced networking features including VLAN, QoS, ACL, LACP, Static Routing, IPv6 and centralised cloud management. Its fanless design provides silent operation.

PoE In – power the switch through the network cable
SG2008 has a dedicated PoE In port that allows the switch to receive power directly from a PoE switch or PoE injector. This reduces the need for separate power adapters and simplifies installations where a mains outlet is not available.
Please note that SG2008 does not have PoE output ports. It therefore cannot power access points, IP cameras or other PoE devices through its network ports.
Integrates with Omada SDN
The switch can be managed as a standalone device or integrated into TP-Link's Omada SDN platform together with routers, access points and other Omada switches for centralised administration, monitoring and configuration of the entire network.

SG2008 is suitable when you need a quiet, compact switch in a location without a mains outlet, such as a media cabinet or above a suspended ceiling, and can power it from an existing PoE switch or PoE injector. If you instead need to power several PoE devices such as cameras or access points, SG2210MP or SG2428P, which have PoE output ports, are the better choices.
