Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Pro – WiFi 7 access point with 6 GHz and 2.5 Gbit/s uplink

Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Pro is a WiFi 7 access point for ceiling or wall mounting that operates on 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz with 2 × 2 MU-MIMO per band and a total of six spatial streams. The uplink is a 1/2.5 GbE RJ45 port, so the access point is not limited by a Gigabit connection.

Ubiquiti specifies a coverage area of 140 m² and support for more than 300 simultaneous clients. The unit is powered by PoE+ and consumes up to 21 W.

Benefits

  • WiFi 7 (802.11be) with tri-band: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz
  • Up to 5.8 Gbps on 6 GHz with 320 MHz channel width
  • 2.5 Gigabit uplink – no bottleneck to the switch
  • Six spatial streams and 8 BSSIDs per radio
  • Support for more than 300 simultaneous clients
  • Pro Mount for ceiling and wall installation included

WiFi 7 for maximum performance

U7 Pro is based on the WiFi 7 standard and is developed to handle both current and future network demands.

  • WiFi 7 (802.11be)
  • Operates on 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz
  • Lower latency
  • Higher capacity
  • Improved efficiency with many simultaneous clients

This makes it suitable for streaming, video conferencing, cloud services and demanding network environments.

Radio configuration and speeds

The access point uses 2 × 2 MU-MIMO in both uplink and downlink on all three bands.

  • 6 GHz: up to 5.8 Gbps with 320 MHz channel width
  • 5 GHz: up to 4.3 Gbps with 240 MHz channel width
  • 2.4 GHz: up to 688 Mbps with 40 MHz channel width
  • 6 spatial streams in total
  • Channel widths: HT 20/40, VHT/HE 20/40/80/160, EHT 20/40/80/160/240/320

Developed for many users

U7 Pro is designed for environments where many devices are connected at the same time.

  • More than 300 simultaneous clients
  • 8 BSSIDs per radio
  • 140 m² coverage area
  • Stable performance even under heavy load

It is well suited to businesses, offices, schools, conference facilities and larger homes.

2.5 Gigabit uplink

A fast network connection is required to take full advantage of WiFi 7.

  • 1 × 1/2.5 GbE RJ45 port
  • PoE+ power over the same cable
  • VLAN support
  • Central management through UniFi Network

The faster uplink reduces the risk of bottlenecks when many clients use the network at the same time.

Advanced security features

U7 Pro includes several features for secure network operation.

  • WPA2 and WPA3
  • WPA2 Enterprise and WPA Enterprise
  • Guest isolation
  • Private Pre-Shared Key (PPSK)
  • VLAN segmentation
  • Advanced QoS

Full integration with UniFi Network

Like other UniFi products, U7 Pro is administered through UniFi Network.

  • Central administration
  • Easy configuration
  • Remote management
  • Statistics and monitoring
  • Network topology
  • Simple management of multiple access points

Robust construction

U7 Pro is built for long service life and stable operation.

  • Polycarbonate and metal enclosure
  • Mount in stainless steel (SUS304) and galvanised steel (SGCC)
  • Operating temperature −30 °C to +40 °C
  • Humidity 5–95% non-condensing
  • Developed for continuous operation

Good to know

  • A PoE injector is not included. U7 Pro requires PoE+ (44–57 V DC) from a PoE+ switch or separate injector and consumes up to 21 W.
  • The operating temperature is −30 °C to +40 °C. Ubiquiti specifies no IP rating for U7 Pro, so it should be installed indoors.
  • To take advantage of the 2.5 Gbit/s uplink, the switch port must support 2.5 GbE and the cable should be Cat 6 or better.
  • The 6 GHz band requires clients that support WiFi 6E or WiFi 7.

PC & HiFi Örebro recommends

We recommend U7 Pro when the network is intended to last for many years and when you already have or are planning 2.5 Gigabit switches. Its main strength is the 6 GHz band combined with the faster uplink – that is where the difference from the U6 series becomes noticeable in practice. Keep in mind that it requires PoE+ and that an injector is not included, and that the operating temperature is −30 to +40 °C with no specified IP rating, which means indoor installation. If the access point will be mounted on a wall in a hotel room or corridor, U7 Pro Wall is a more convenient format. If you still have only Gigabit switches and moderate load, U6 Pro is a more cost-effective choice.
