Ajax FireProtect 2 RB Heat/Smoke White – wireless fire detector with smoke and heat sensors

Ajax FireProtect 2 RB (Heat/Smoke) Jeweller is a wireless fire detector that combines a dual-spectrum optical smoke detector and a heat sensor in one device. The smoke detector analyses particle sizes in two spectra to distinguish fire smoke from steam and dust, reducing the risk of false alarms.

The heat sensor is class A1R according to EN 54-5 and BS 5446-2. The detector is certified to EN 14604:2005/AC:2008, has a built-in 85 dB siren measured at a distance of 3 metres and is powered by two replaceable CR123A batteries with an estimated life of up to 7 years. RB stands for replaceable battery.

Dual detection for increased safety

FireProtect 2 monitors both smoke and changes in temperature to detect different types of fire.

The detector reacts to:

• Smoke in the detector chamber, analysed in two spectra
• Rapid temperature increases
• High ambient temperature

Combining several detection methods improves the ability to detect a fire at an early stage.

Heat detection

In addition to detecting smoke, FireProtect 2 monitors the temperature in the room.

An alarm is triggered by:

• A temperature above +64 °C
• A temperature increase of more than 10 °C within one minute

This means the detector can also react to fires generating heat before visible smoke reaches the smoke chamber.

Powerful built-in siren

During a fire alarm, the built-in siren sounds while the LED indicator flashes clearly.

Performance:

• Siren level of 85 dB at a distance of 3 metres
• Clear visual alarm indication

This helps ensure that the alarm is noticed quickly, even in larger homes and premises.

Interconnected fire alarms

FireProtect 2 can be configured so that all fire detectors in the installation activate their sirens simultaneously.

Interconnection operates in two ways:

• Primarily through the hub, which activates all fire-detector sirens within approximately 20 seconds
• As a backup, directly between detectors if communication with the hub fails, sounding the entire system within approximately one minute

This means that the entire property is warned simultaneously, allowing faster evacuation in larger buildings.

Also works without a hub

FireProtect 2 can be used both as part of an Ajax security system and as a standalone device.

In standalone operation:

• The detector warns using its built-in siren and LED indication
• No notification is sent to the mobile app, Ajax Translator or PRO Desktop

Standalone operation therefore provides local fire warning, but an Ajax hub is required for app notifications and alarm receiving centre transmission.

Automatic self-testing and monitoring

The detector performs regular self-tests to verify that its functions are working correctly.

The system monitors:

• Sensor operation
• Battery status
• Whether the smoke chamber needs cleaning
• Communication status

Any faults or maintenance requirements are reported to the user in the Ajax app.

Long range and secure communication

Ajax Jeweller technology provides stable, encrypted communication with the hub.

Important to know

• The detector is intended for indoor use. Its enclosure rating is IP20, operating range is 0 °C to +50 °C and permitted humidity is up to 80%.
• Connection to an Ajax system requires a hub or range extender running OS Malevich 2.19 or later. Check current compatibility using the Ajax compatibility tool before ordering.
• The Heat/Smoke version does not contain a carbon-monoxide sensor. Choose the Heat/Smoke/CO version when CO detection is required.
• The RB version has replaceable batteries. The SB version has a sealed, non-replaceable battery.
