Ubiquiti UniFi Protect UNVR G2 – 1U network video recorder with 4 drive bays and 10G SFP+

Ubiquiti UniFi Protect UNVR G2 is the second-generation network video recorder for UniFi Protect. The rack-mounted 1U unit has four drive bays for 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives or SSDs, a 10G SFP+ uplink and a processor built on Arm Cortex technology using a 4 nm process, together with 8 GB of RAM.

UNVR G2 runs UniFi Protect locally without subscription fees and manages up to 60 Full HD cameras or 30 4K cameras. It can also run UniFi Access and UniFi Connect from the same device.

All video is stored on your own drives in the unit, without a cloud subscription.

Use hard drives designed for continuous video recording – standard desktop drives are not designed for round-the-clock operation.

The number of cameras that can be recorded simultaneously depends on resolution and whether the built-in HDMI output is used for direct viewing.

Without HDMI viewing:

Good to know

• Hard drives are not included. Calculate storage requirements based on the number of cameras, resolution and how many days of history you want to retain.

• The unit requires UniFi Protect version 7.1.55 or later.
• An operating temperature of 0 to 40 °C and humidity of 5–95% non-condensing mean indoor installation in a ventilated space.

We recommend UniFi Protect UNVR G2 if you are building a camera system intended to last for several years. Its main strength is the new processor generation combined with 10G SFP+ – together they allow the recorder to handle 30 4K cameras without becoming a bottleneck, while searches through recorded material remain fast even in large archives. Keep in mind that hard drives are sold separately and that storage requirements increase sharply with 4K cameras; calculate the number of days of history you need before choosing drives. If you use the HDMI output for direct viewing, camera capacity is reduced, which is worth knowing during planning. If you need more than four drive bays, UNVR Pro with seven bays is the right choice.
